The Value of Aerials
A few seconds of aerials can transform a programme from the ordinary to the impressive. Aerial shots can be dynamic or dreamy, ethereal or gritty. They can set a scene, tell a story or merely provide an attractive background to your titles.
We own and operate a number of gyro-stabilised camera systems, which together with next generation mounts, offers the unique ability to mount the camera on the left or right-hand side of the nose. We have a range of Camera Operators which combine to offer an un-rivalled level of expertise, plus some of the UK's top aerial filming Pilots.
This plus our excellent working relationship with the various authorities that regulate Aviation, means we can negotiate the best possible permissions to make your shoot go smoothly. By sourcing camera systems, mounts, aircraft, operators & pilots all from with-in house, we offer a flexible & efficient solution.
Single or Twin engine operation over Central London?
It is Arena’s opinion that Twins are best suited for filming in R160 (an area covering most of Central London). However it is acceptable to use a Single engine helicopter, provided it can land clear of the built up area in the event of a power failure.
So Twins provide the greatest flexibility in the demanding role of aerial filming where a combination of altitude, speed, directions of travel, and the exact position above the ground may be critical to getting the shot.
Following general discussion with the CAA on the subject, Arena firmly believes that Twins continue to provide clients with not only the greatest flexibility and quality, but are the safest solution for filming over London. Singles v Twins (Typical aircraft)
