Bell 206 Jetranger A single-engined five seater, this has been the workhorse of the light helicopter world for years. Limited in power, an experienced pilot and cameraman can still produce good results. A wide range of mounts can be fitted. |

EC120 Also a single-engined five seater, this new rival for the Bell 206 is not as readily available and does not yet have many camera mounts designed for it. |

AS350 Squirrel (Known as the AStar in the USA) Single-engined six seater with a wide comfortable cabin, this and its twin-engined version are the mainstay of the aerial filming world. A large variety of good mounts can be fitted to it and the later marks have power to spare for demanding and dynamic moves. |

AS355 Twin-Squirrel (Known as the TwinStar in the USA) This is the machine for work over cities and in hostile terrain where legislation demands the added safety conferred by having two engines. It is no coincidence that both Sky News and ITN operate this type. The cabin is the same as the Squirrel and provides a comfortable working environment for pilot, operator and director and can be arranged to have a spare seat for a client, or vision engineer. |

Agusta 109 Top of the range of “light” helicopters, this is a fast, sleek, large cabined, twin-engined machine. It will take a variety of camera mounts, but is more normally seen as an ‘action’ ship rather than a camera platform. Its complexity makes it expensive to hire. |
